Sometimes A Little Burn Goes A Long Way

I love spicy foods. This has come on more and more as I get older, which may be a sign of the state of my taste-buds. I have recently found myself adding extra spices to just about everything I eat from eggs to salads. One of my current new favorites is red pepper. Red pepper, you know the stuff in the shaker at the pizza place, has a number of healthy benefits and uses besides adding a little kick to your food. Red pepper has been traditionally used as a pain reliever. Red pepper can even help with backaches and has been used to relieve arthritis. Red pepper can also help lower a fever. Try red pepper the next time you have a toothache or suffer from any pain. Pretty much any illness that you would normally reach for the aspirin to relieve can also be helped by red pepper.

Red pepper, as with all spicy foods, may be able to help you control your weight. When you eat spicy foods, you tend to reach for the water more often. The more water that you drink will help you fill up quicker and help you maintain a healthy digestive system! There are a number of diets that claim that spicy foods actually help you loose weight by themselves. I have a hard time believing this and must warn that constantly eating spicy foods can cause bowel issues. Just make sure that you enjoy spicy foods in moderation!
